Adventureland Park - is a theme
amusement park that re-creates turn-of-the-century Iowa.
Features include Main Street, River City, Last Frontier, and an Iowa
farm. Also offered are a variety of rides, top-name
entertainment, animal shows, stage shows, and shops. The park
is open from May to September. I-80 at Hwy. 65.

Iowa State Fairgrounds - is the
site of the Iowa State Fair, the Heritage Village, the State Fair
Museum, and the Aquarium Center. The fairgrounds host a
variety of events during the year.

Prairie Meadows
- is Iowa's only horse racing facility offering peri-mutual betting
on thoroughbred and harness horses. The track is open
Wednesday through Sunday from mid-March through mid-November.

State Capital Building -
features a 23-karet gold dome marked by four smaller domes.
Completed in 1896, the building houses the state legislature, the
law library, the governor's office and the State Supreme Court.
Attractions include paintings, statues, a collection of war flags,
and a display of dolls dressed in the inaugural gowns of Iowa's
First Ladies. E. 9th and Grand Ave. 261-5591.
Veteran's Auditorium - is one
of Iowa's best know entertainment complex's, hosting huge regional
events such as Iowa Girls and Boy's State Basketball and Boy's
Wrestling tournaments. Other attractions include: Home shows,
Sports & Recreation shows, Car shows and many big concerts.
Vets is also the home arena for the Barnstormer's football and
Dragon's Basketball teams. |
